Ford Explorer vs. the Competition | Orlando, FL

2021 Ford Explorer vs. Chevrolet Traverse - Sun State Ford - Orlando, FL

If you are shopping for your next family-friendly SUV, there are a lot of good options to choose from. However, some models stand out more from the competition than others. The stylish 2021 Ford Explorer is the latest version of the beloved SUV icon. Here is a quick comparison between it and the 2021 Chevrolet Traverse to help you see how the Explorer can be a great fit for your family.

Engine Options

The 2021 Ford Explorer gives you a lot of options when it comes to performance. Most trims come standard with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost® turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. The 3.0-liter EcoBoost® turbocharged V6, standard on the amazing Explorer ST, puts out an unrelenting 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. You can also opt for an efficient yet powerful hybrid option with the Explorer Limited Hybrid.

As for the Traverse, there is only one engine: a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque.

Towing Performance

With a big SUV like the Explorer or Traverse, you will be able to do some towing. However, the rugged Explorer offers more towing power with a maximum available rating of 5,600 pounds when properly equipped. The Traverse can only tow up to 5,000 pounds.

Safety

You and your family can stay safe while driving in the Explorer in Orlando, Florida. All models come standard with Ford Co-Pilot360™, which includes features like Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Trailer Sway Control. The Traverse does not come standard with any safety features like this. You would have to pay more for a higher trim level to get these advanced safety features.

Interior Space

In a family SUV, you need a versatile, spacious interior. The Explorer gives you that with three roomy rows of seats. The Traverse also has three rows; however, the Explorer comes with more legroom in the first and second rows and more headroom in the second and third rows.

There’s simply more to love about the 2021 Ford Explorer, and you’ll find it in all its glory right here at Sun State Ford in Orlando, Florida.
